Hey I actually won…

Okay neighbors, recently I went with Lynne Ann to CHA. It was a good time and I got to meet some new folks and meet back up with some old folks… I am sure they won’t like that way of putting it.  One of the top reasons why we attended CHA is that we both had bottles in the top 25 in the Amaco Bottles of Hope Challenge.  You can see the ceremony and interviews with me, Lynne Ann, and Cat at www.polymerclayproductions.com if you would like to feel just as if you had been there.

Anyway, Lynne won Best Expression of Hope with her beautiful canework on a black lava rock textured bottle.  I was very proud of her.  It got down to the wire on awards and the final award was the Designers Choice or Best in Show… and I’ll be damned, Lisa called me up.  So I thought maybe someone might want to take a look at my ‘award winning’ bottle.  Finally proof that I am more than just a pretty face and an opinionated polymer clay guy.

  1. He’s great, Tommie! Very much “you” without the usual (and fun) macabre flavor. A couple of questions:

    How big is he?
What is the character he is holding up? (“Hope”, I assume.)
    How does the bottle open?

    hugs,
    Vickie

  2. Nice job, Tommie. I finally met you in person last year at Sandy Camp. Hope to see you guys there again this year.

  3. Nice job, Tommie. I finally met you last year at Sandy Camp. Hope to see you guys again this year. Or at CHA in Jan. One of the perks of living near Anaheim is our guild getting called on for all kinds of fun jobs.
You may (or may not) remember us being on OneList or Egroups back in the day. I didn’t read too many of your posts because you were an opinianated garage kit guy and I was a newbie into cutesy.

  4. *I* always knew you were more than a pretty face…..and, I knew your Buddah would win. As one who has seen it in person, I can attest that it’s completely amazing.

Congrats, dear friend….you deserve this honor and a million more…
    loves,

  5. Hey Tommie…Big congrats to you. I’m so happy you won and are back to claying. One of these evenings if you get some time, would love to meet you in chat again. I need some sculpting hints.

  6. Whoo hoo Tommie! A well deserved win I’d say. He’s just wonderful, very fluid in his ’stance’ which isn’t easy to do and such a happy chappy. I’m rather partial to buddhas myself!

  7. It’s wonderful, Tommie. Isn’t there more to the story with some last minute pre-entry drama?
It is a unique and enchanting Bottle of Hope. You deserve the recognition!

  8. Hey there “pretty boy”. I love your bottle! As far as being a big mouth in the clay world, move over, ya gots company!!!

  9. Hi Tommy…I was very impressed with your demo at KK, sure doesn’t surprise me that you won with buddha…he is absolutely awesome!!!

  10. Hey Tommie, long time no see!

Big congratulations on your win!… really a great job.

(On a semi-related topic, I want to add a link to another of the bottles shown in the challenge at npcg.org, “Hopes Fountain,” on my glassattic.com page dealing with resins and creating faux water. But that bottle wasn’t a winner so there’s indication of the maker for attribution. Would you happen to know who the person was, or know where I could find out?
…Also I’m only guessing that resins were used for both the water in the fountain and the upward sprays, but would love to find out for sure.)

Great to hear your “voice” again!
